Test and Exams:
2nd grade Setting/Level
Test Item:
Identify quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies. This will be done through oral exercises done
in groups and within the class as a whole.
Test Item:
Observe for accuracy if students can recognize the values of
coins, what the coins are worth (value).
Test item:
Give students coins to work with and identify counting and values.
Essay Item
This lesson is about coins, we have worked on identifying the
value, what these coins look like, and how to coin with these coins. Within this essay identify the four coins
that we have been working with, how much each coin is worth, and describe the
looks of each coin.
Thoughts Process and Rationale
The 2nd graders have been working hard on learning how
to count money, which is a real life lesson.
The use of an essay is helpful in a way that it helps the students
practice on their writing skills, math skills, and visualize the coins through
working directly with the coins. I have been observing the students and using
open ended questions when asking questions and this allows me to know what they
are learning.
